Media & video
Detection, quality, subtitles, and what is deliberately out of scope.
First reload the page. The panel is rebuilt when a page loads, so an old tab can look empty after installing or updating the companion. Some sites only expose their media once playback starts, so start the item and check again, and confirm the item you are looking at belongs to the player you meant to save. Detection depends on what the site exposes, so a missing panel is not by itself a sign that the companion is disconnected.
The qualities on offer come from what the site publishes, not from a fixed list inside Duvrin. A single video can genuinely be published in only one resolution, and some sites hide higher qualities until playback has started. If the option you expect is missing after reloading and starting playback, the site is not offering it.
The site is refusing a second request for the same address, which usually happens because your browser already asked for it once. Close the page, reopen the original video, and start the download from a fresh play. A re-request of an address the site has already spent is not something Duvrin can talk it out of. Sites with this behaviour are best left to the browser’s own controls.
Some media downloads have a finishing step after the transfer reaches 100%, and the file is not ready until that completes, so check the item state before trying again. If the finished file is in a format your player does not open, turn on Settings → Downloads → “Convert compatible video to MP4 by default” so compatible videos are saved in a more widely playable format. If a file will not open at all, the troubleshooting guide covers what to check next.
When a captured video publishes subtitles, the media panel in your browser lists them and you can pick a language before you start the download. Not every video has them, and the languages depend on what the site publishes. If you do not see a language picker, that video has no subtitle tracks available.
No. Live streams are never available, and DRM-protected, subscription-gated, sign-in-gated, and age-restricted media are out of scope by design. We do not bypass access controls, so a site that protects its video keeps it. Download only content you own or have permission to save.
Switch the companion off from its icon for that tab, and the media options disappear with it. Because that choice is per tab, a page you reload later will offer them again. For a site you visit often and never want to capture from, keeping the companion off there is the simplest way to keep it quiet.
The address pointed at a web page rather than a media file, so the page itself is what was saved. Use the media item Duvrin detects in the panel, or copy a direct media address, rather than the page address. Download Current Page and the right-click page item both send the page’s own address, so neither can turn an ordinary page into a video.
