Getting started

Save your first file with Duvrin

Two simple routes to your first download, plus what to do when a transfer needs your attention.

Choose a small file first

Pick a small file you have permission to download for your first test. Checking the whole flow on something small is much easier before starting a large transfer.

Option 1: add a direct file link

  1. Open Duvrin’s Add Download panel.
  2. Paste the direct file address into Source URL. A link to a web page is not always a link to the file itself.
  3. Choose Inspect if the panel offers it, then review the detected details.
  4. Check Save as and Destination. Use Browse… to choose another folder.
  5. Choose Start and follow the item’s progress in Duvrin.

Use a folder you can write to and leave enough disk space. Keep private or temporary download addresses out of screenshots and support messages.

Option 2: send a download from the browser

  1. Connect the browser companion and keep Duvrin running.
  2. Open a page that offers a supported downloadable file or a media item.
  3. Choose the relevant download action. If Duvrin shows detected media, select the item and the quality you want.
  4. Review the filename and destination in the download panel, then confirm the download.

If you enabled Start browser downloads immediately, Duvrin uses your default settings instead of showing that panel. Turn it off in Settings → Extensions if you want to review the details for your first test.

Download Current Page sends the address of the page you are on. It cannot turn an arbitrary web page into a downloadable video.

Watch progress and find the file

  • Wait for Duvrin to mark the item complete. Some media downloads also need a finishing step before the final file is ready.
  • Use the item’s Finder reveal action to locate it in the destination you chose.
  • Open the saved file to confirm the expected content is there.

Pause, resume and retry

Pause a download when you want to stop transferring temporarily, and resume it when you are ready. Whether a particular source accepts a resumed transfer depends on that source and on the download type.

If an item fails, read its message before retrying. A website refusing a request does not necessarily mean the link expired. Open the original page and check whether the file is still available to you.

Avoid cancelling the item, deleting it, or removing partial files simply to test resume. Those are different actions from pausing, and they can discard work you wanted to keep. If a resume fails, troubleshoot it first.

Schedule a download instead

To begin later, use Download Later, choose the start time, and confirm with Schedule.

A schedule does not wake a sleeping or shut-down Mac. Keep the Mac awake and the app available for the scheduled time.
